Janice W. Bell Historical Research Room

A historical research room, dedicated to the history of Ledyard and Gales Ferry, is located at the Bill Library. The room, named for Janice W. Bell, the first Town Historian and Archivist, contains photos, diaries, letters, documents, maps, land records, and genealogies pertaining to local families and events.

To view the digital collections from the Bell Room, please visit the Ledyard Historical Society’s webpage.

In November 2020, the archive will be open the 5th and 19th (Thursdays), and the 9th and 23rd (Mondays), from 2 PM to 5 PM. During December it is open by appointment only. COVID19 protocols are in place. Please email or call for details using the information below.

You may also submit a research request via email, mail, or by bringing it to either library. To do so, please complete the Bell Room Research Inquiry Form. The Historical Society research volunteers will contact you concerning your inquiry.
