A historical research room, dedicated to the history of Ledyard and Gales Ferry, is located at the Bill Library. The room, named for Janice W. Bell, the first Town Historian and Archivist, contains photos, diaries, letters, documents, maps, land records, and genealogies pertaining to local families and events.

The Bell Room is open:
- 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. every Monday that the Bill Library is open;
- 9:30 a.m. to Noon on the first Saturday of the month when the Bill Library is open; and
- By appointment, which you can schedule by emailing the research committee at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling the library.
